Our colleagues from the DIGITOL project are currently identifying needs and good practices in relation to digital skills and combat fake news.

Digital literacy is defined by Law et al. (2018), as: “the ability to access, manage, understand, integrate, communicate, evaluate and create information safely and appropriately through digital technologies (…). It includes competencies that are variously referred to as computer literacy, ICT literacy, information literacy, and media literacy.”

Benefiting from the opportunities of our digitalized societies depends both on our abilities to operate digital tools and to interpret the content accessed through digital technologies. In 2018, more than 35% of those aged between 65 and 74 had never used the Internet; this is the highest ratio of all age groups. As a response, the DIGITOL project aims to understand what are the specific aspects of digital literacy we should train for older persons to become more proficient users of the Internet.

The survey is open from 1 April to 15 May 2020. It will take you about 10 to 12 minutes to fill it in and responses both from organizations or from individuals without professional affiliation are collected. All the responses will remain confidential.
